This rock has a strong magnetic attraction, fusion crust, heavy with silvery interior. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. 20180404_172027.webp20180404_173428.webp20180404_175201.webp

It looks like magnetite to me. :skullflag:

For me looks like a basalt, volcanic rock.

Not to confuse things but Magnetite is one of the mineral components of basalt. So, yes to both in a way. I am a rank amateur but the crust thing is problematic. There are things that look like crusts such as desert varnish and it's very difficult to differentiate by looking at photos. Experts also say that old weathered meteorites may not have a fusion crust. Take it to someone knowedgable is really your best option. You also need to determine what the shiny stuff is inside. When it is proven to be Iron nickel, you might have a meteorite. Good luck.

Terry and Art are both likely correct. Much of the crushed basalt in my driveway is high enough in magnatite to be attracted to a magnet.

Time for more coffee.

good to ask and learn
