Went to an estate sale this morning for coins and jewelry. Found a small 14k bracelet 3g in a box for $5 as if that isn't awesome enough. But then I saw a Longines chronograph for $5. I didn't know anything about watches until a few weeks ago I bought another Longines watch and saw they made expensive ones. So I always look for that maker. Anyways this one is worn and dirty on the sides so I can't tell what karat gold it is. I haven't opened it to confirm the model, but I think its a 30CH model in either 14k or 18k gold (probably 14k not yellow enough). The band is plated and nothing special. Amazingly it does work, so now I need to find a jeweler that can actually service it and clean it up. Hopefully someone that knows about Longines watches can chime in and confirm the model.

Wow, what a score!

Gosh darn it! Why can't I find one like this!!! Looks like a 13ZN in 14kt gold. One on eBay is $4500.

Wonderful score!!

I don't know much about watches but from what I can see, the original owner probably replaced the leather watchband that came with the watch with one of those flexible Spiedel bands that were popular back in the 1960's.
That being said, gold-filled 14k seems logical and a chronigraph to boot. Ya done GREAT!

I've never found a decent watch. Found A Rolex Crocodile band a couple years ago but that's peanuts to an actual high end watch.

Awesome !!!!!

Congrats! Awesome find for sure!

Wow! You keep hope alive. I'm glade you knew enough to not let that one go. I'll bet a handful of people did. I know I would of did a jig after that find. You could be on a roll? Better get out and see what else the unsuspected are out giving away. Is that a tiny swiss hallmark on one of the lugs I see?

Yes its marked Swiss at the bottom there. Pays to get there first even though there wasn't many people. Going to take it to a jeweler on Monday to get it opened and serviced.

No! not the swiss marked on the dial. That little spot where your thumb is. The Swiss use tiny little pictorial hallmarks on precious metals.

I don't know. There's nothing legible I can read with the band on.

That little stamp I marked is what I'm wondering about??. If it is a small Swiss hallmark, It will tell you if the case is 14K or 18K gold. You should be able to see it better with a magnifier loop.
