Pottery? How old does this look? Also a strange spike?

Found some thick pieces of pottery. Anyone have a guess on the age?

Also found what looks like some kind of spike. Never saw one shaped like this though.

I'd guess the crockery pieces are late 19th early 20th century. I found a 4 sided? spike kind of like yours, but mine is horse shoe shape and has the same kind of points on both ends and I'm not sure what it is.
