There is a big difference from plains to prairie artifacts here is South Dakota.
the other recent frames I posted were plains pieces. Mostly Mandan and Arikira made pieces.

This frame is from the eastern edge of the state where the Oneota and Ponca’s spent time. These are from one site that I hunt.

Thanks for sharing all that you have. Always enjoy seeing what comes from different areas of the country and you have been giving us a good view of your local.

Nice!!! All your finds?

yes, this frame has all personal finds of mine. I have a few sites that I hunt and keep everything separate. This site I hunt the most and have the most from. I have several more frames from this site but this is for the most part the best.

Seems to be a lot less KRF in this collection. Gary

Thats for sure!
Like I pointed out in my other graver post, even the smallest pieces found here usually show that they were utilized.

East-coaster here with a couple questions...
No size reference there, but that large item in the middle resembles an ULU. Any thoughts?
Also the black shiny stones (top right) are interesting. Can you give us a little background info and speculate on identity?
Really nice finds. We never see flint lake that here in MA & RI.

the blade in question is a little over 3 1/4 inches long.
I’m thinking it is the type that was halfted into a split rib bone handle similar to the one shown below.

The black shiny pieces I believe are either worry stones, or a form of gaming piece.
They both show that they were ground to their current shape. The material is rare also. I only have 3 pieces of it and the third piece is a point. It’s around the knife. All in this frame are from the same 3 acre area out of a site that spans 600 acres.
