Hard to believe I was out hunting in 50 degree temps yesterday - Today I was digging out from a snow storm!

My most recent silver in these woods was a shot 1946 GW Quarter and now I found a 1945 normal one - less than 5 feet away from where I found the 1929 Wheat Cent.

Found a cool flashlight that was buried an inch or two down but after I cleaned it up it still worked. It cast a really cool blue light beam! Across the creek and further down the trail was a ‘cheapo’ quartz watch with the broken wristband an inch or two away.

Awaiting further exploration is a dump in a mucky area that included old car parts (the radiator cap), the POND’S Jar, silver plated spoon, and far more signals than I had time to check out yesterday. As usual I hauled out a bag full of beer, soda, and aerosol cans for the trash. :rocks: :rocks3:

Thanks For Looking!
Nick

Cool flashlight, it looks like it could be UV LEDs. In New Mexico we used them for hunting scorpions at night. Not sure what it would be used for up here though. maybe hidden trail markers?

Congrats on some nice finds and post

Nice digs Wildcat! The flashlight is used for blood tracking at night. Very useful tool for tracking a shot deer after dark.

Thanks, trapperart! It was almost like a spring day.

Thanks, KENTUCKYWONDER! I just learned a new thing again today. Judging from the shell casings and spent shot shells in these woods it makes a lot of sense.

Thanks, paleomaxx! See the post by KENTUCKYWONDER for the answer. Since there are no scorpions up here I'll just have to try the flashlight out the next time I get a cut.

Now that was quite the hunt.......and a very interesting diverse collection of finds.......looks like it was a lot of fun!!
Congrats on the '45 Washington!! And, cudos for cleaning up the site.............:icon_thumright:

Very cool, looking for blood trails is just as metal as hunting scorpions so either way that's a sweet flashlight!

Also there being no scorpions up here is one of my favorite aspects of the north. When I'm in New Mexico I'm usually mineral/fossil hunting and you can never just flip over a rock without worrying over what nasty surprise is hiding on the other side. :laughing7:
