Pretty old find today.

Found this in one of my 5 boxes, still have a box and 1/2 left-my phone cam sux but its a 1856

Yeah those pics are awful, but thats a sweet find! I haven't even found anything before the 1900's n here you are almost halfway through the 1800's.

yeah sorry guys my phone is a POS! I didnt even know what it was at first LOL, the banks been switching back and forth between brownish yellow/white wrappers and black/white, been kind of crazy lately.

Pretty sweet! If you ever get access to a scale, check the weight and compare to other worn halves of that era, there seems to be a rise in fakes.

I wouldnt know the weight of that era as this is my oldest find, all I have is an old postal scale probly not the most accurate, its "O" mint mark which I guess is New Orleans, the tellers when I was dumping were googley eyed about it LOL. Ill keep my fingers crossed

According to my Red Book, an 1856 half should weigh 12.44g. Your scale may not be fully accurate, and I don't know how deeply wear affects the coin's weight. Personally, I think it would be authentic. I just don't want you to be disappointed if you sell it/get it graded.

In good news, there were 2,658,000 minted, and worth somewhere around 30-40 dollars! I hope it's the real deal!

You are right Accord, it rounds up to grams no in betweens, its pretty warn as you can only see the silouhette of the shield-im half way through my last box with only 1 proof and a costa rican something or another lol, only 8 silvers today out of 10 boxes between my uncle and I, but atleast we didnt get skunked! thanks for the info as well!
