Relic Hunting
Hi peeps, long time no see. We finally went out hunting for a little while yesterday at an early 1800's house we have detected a few times. I dug this heavy iron object and don't know what it is. I'm guessing it's about two inches thick on the side of the top loop.I have seen wagon part charts and bridle part charts but the charts are not very detailed. The mister dug a half of a curb bit.

A singletree is part of the wooden shaft framework which you attach the horse to for pulling a buggy or wagon. (Another version is called a doubletree.) I don't have a photo or drawing of the complete rig, but here's a photo of a singletree bar. The iron part you found is a variation of what you see in the middle of the bar in the photo. Yours has been crushed, probably by being run-over by a heavy wagon wheel.
