would privies in the city be deeper than ones in the country because they didnt have the room to move them every so often?

As a rule city privies are deeper, they are also easier to find due to the fact the yards were smaller. Country (cellar-hole) privies are harder to find and were usually "dipped" or cleaned out regularly. They are also harder to locate due to the fact the yards were larger.
