I recently won an 11" X35 coil and took it out for a test run today. I had a problem with the headphones chattering. No matter what program or frequency I tried there was constant chatter coming through the phones. If I laid the detector down I had to push the coil so it was flat or the chatter would get worse. And, I had to move the detector and headphones away from me if I turned my TRX pin pointer on because the chatter was so loud I couldn't hear the pin pointer.
What was I doing wrong and how do I correct this problem?

Just a couple thoughts. I assume you told the control unit it had a new coil. With that said, I'd switch back to the old coil and see if it still happens. Also, is there an EMI source near where you were? That's the only tests I can think of.

I updated the Deus to 5.2 and paired the coil to the remote and head phones. No EMI source. I switched back to the standard coil and had no problem.

I just wonder if you need to go back to version 5.0

Probably ask somebody at Metaldetector.com

No, that will likely make it worse. The 5.2 update was supposed to address EMI susceptibility of the new x35 coils. I know it quieted mine down. Make sure you do have 5.2 or 5.21 installed (screen shows 52 or 521 on boot up) and are doing everything required to quiet it down (initialize with Coil off the ground, GB as necessary, lower sensitivity slightly, change to a quiet frequency, etc.).
