Prospecting near Cookville, TN

I just drove through Cookville and Sparta through Hwy 111 on my way to Florida. Has anyone ever prospected around these parts? Any color? Just driving through the pass on 111 looked interesting enough to spark my interest, I am wondering though if anyone has ever been successful in these parts.

There has been gold found around the base of Monteagle not far from there. I have land off hwy 111 towards Dunlap but it is all on top of the mtn. Gold up towards benton and coker creek and Tellico.

i understand that Tenn. has just ban prospecting.anyway thats what ive been reading!you may want to check into it a little more!
