Pure gold from bacteria

There has been talk of this bacteria for several years now. The most difficult part has been trying to figure a way to make it a cost-effective means of mining.

Send the bacteria to Detroit there is plenty of rust and toxic metal there

Interesting, thanks for sharing, never heard of biological processes that produce gold, pretty cool though

Perhaps it might have in some way be responsible for creating of the Witwatersrand ore deposits in South Africa?
For as much gold as there is there (the most on the planet, some say), scientists still can't completely agree on how it got there, what concentrated it, and where it came from.

That would be impossible. The gold would have to already be there in some form and the bacteria would be simply separating the gold from the binding element.

That's the idea. The bacteria were to be used at thermal vent sites on the ocean floor, once it had been determined that there was enough gold to do anything with. When I read about this, the gold (if I remember correctly) was not a solid, nor was it anything of immediate value. The bacteria were actually needed not only for recovery, but even more-so for processing of the highly-toxic levels of metals and other natural components.

Since that initial theory, some folks have been trying to figure out how to make the theory into reality. Whoever figures it out will be the rich one, but maybe more for selling the process, as it will likely only become nicely lucrative after the process has been in use and later refined to perfection.
