New York gold book

Happened upon a thread for an inexpensive book titled " The Search For Adirondack Gold by Ron Johnson" Ordered it on eBay for about $7.00. Will have it in hand in about a week or so. Also, here is a link to a short review on the book. -

Apparently, New York did have a "gold rush" of sorts way back when. It may be an interesting book, if nothing else. Your thoughts on this matter.

NY has some regulations pertaining to mining permits for gold and silver. These refer to a "Notice of Discovery", Section 82. It basically states that you file a form, plus about $50 in fees (of course) Apparently, there have been approximately 11,000 sworn statements from 1791 to 1997 made with the Office of the NY SOS. Yes, the gold "belongs" to the state, but for $50 or so, and as long as you pay a royalty and that the find is not on Forest Preserve Lands, it's yours to mine. Check out the link below -
