Pvt Ferris J. Stevens, WWII Army Veteran: Thank You for your Service

In order to keep the memory alive for Private Ferris J. Stevens and his family, who have enjoyed visiting TNet and enjoyed reading the previous thread as well as other threads on this forum....I will post something here about Pvt Stevens.

I will add the photos that Joe (Mrs. P.'s) son sent me and a bit of history about Private Stevens. Mrs. P said when she receives the dog tag, she will let me know and when the story is printed in the paper, she said she will send me a copy, inturn, I will post for ya'll to see since many of us are not in New York to read it! I will send an email to Joe and Mrs. P and let them know of this thread.

I will continue to update as I get the data together.....bear with me! I have to work today...so I will do what I can now and finish tonight...deal?

Please pass on to your father (grandfather) that we also THANK HIM for courage and dedication to God and Country for his service as well! And from the information you have given me, there was another brother that also served. May Pvt Ferris Stevens and Saad Stevens Rest in Peace and know that their country, that they so loved, Thanks them for their dedication to God and Country! Amen!

Thank you Ann. Gives a bit more insight....went in at age 23. Grade school education. Survived the scariest moments of his life--and died at age 84. What stories he must have been able to tell.

Chestkeeper....OMG....what a wonderful lady she is! The niece of Ferris J. Stevens just called me...well...she called me at 1:26 pm and is it now 2:14 pm...we just got off the phone!!! She's excited about the dog tag!!!

Her father is still living and brother to Ferris. Her son also metal detects and I gave her my email and told her about TreasureNet....to tell her son.

She will have her son email you...but she also gave me her addy and I will PM you her address. She said she would like to repay you for the postage...so make sure you put a return address on the package, if you wish.

She told me abit about her uncle. He was a paratrooper and while he was jumping out of the airplane, he was shot in the leg. He was sent back to the states. She said he may have lost his dog tag that day he jumped out of the airplane.

Mrs. P is a young 72! And OMG....what a pleasure to talk with! I'm gonna' keep in touch with her! I just made a new friend thanks to you,

So as not to overrun on Chestkeeper's thread, I would like to keep this one. I was researching some newspaper articles and found this one (among many, which I will post tonight)...but wanted to post this one now. I'm only searching 1945 Corregidor time frame...other dates later.

Mrs. P called me this evening after reading this page. She was crying. Why? She was so happy to see this page up and said it was such a nice thing! She is very grateful and Thanks Everyone!

Mrs. P.....it's a pleasure and an honor to keep the memory alive. His dog tag being found was his rebirth and listening to you talk on the phone about him is very enjoyable! Thank you for sharing him! God Bless You and Yours....

That is an honor! Did you know Gen MacArthur has a memorial building in downtown Norfolk, VA? It's pretty nice. And if I am not mistaken, he is buried there....and I think his wife too...been a while since I've been down that way.
