Hey Guys,

My first post in this thread. I've lurked it quite a while, though! Anyways, when I was a little boy, I would go with my uncle point hunting and pottery hunting. This was in Southern Alabama.

I haven't been hunting for Native American artifacts for a while until now. I went today and found this right off the bat. It's obviously a quartz chip. According to the history, there was an Congaree Tribe of Indians on the other side of the river from where I was at.

I'm wondering if this could be a chip from a point? What do you guys think?

Welcome to Artifacts.
As with most Quartz, flaking isn't always visible (due to it being a hard material), so its difficult to tell.
Sure you'll find arrows though, seems like a great place to hunt.
Good Luck.

Molly.
Thats just a rock,

Good to see you posting Ian it didn't take long for you to get out there an start hunting. I think you just have a piece of quartz there/never know it might be a flake. Im sure that you will start finding some before long. Did you walk a good ways down the river
Thanks for posting
Clint

Probably just a chunk of quarts, but at least your finding the right kida stuff. Keep looking the points will come. Welcome to the Artifacts forum. John

I pretty much figured that it was just a 'rock'. LOL

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

Clint, I had the intentions of filming some yesterday and as soon as I got out to the river my battery had died on my camera. So, I walked a little but not much. It was just too much 'dead' weight to carry around with me. So I packed it in and headed home within 30 minutes.

I may venture out some today. I'm wanting to get out there before this storm comes tonight and floods the banks.

I'll be heading to Tennessee on Friday to do some Relic Hunting, but Brian(CenterHit) and I may do some Point Lookin' over there, too.

Thanks again for the welcomes!
