Hey, I found these items in my creek and I was wondering if anybody could help on identification. The quartz I thought could be a preform or just s rock. The other item I have looks like hematite, and the bottom is smooth. A piece broke and it wasn’t powdery. It is also faintly magnetic. Any help identifying/opinions would be helpful. Don't know if that's hematite, or not, John. The hematite I've found in drywashes in Wyoming is really smooth and rounded, and weighty. It's more of a grayish color, but leaves a red/brown streak. I would NOT say yours isn't hematite, though...it could very well be.

Hard to tell on the quartz piece they never show well in pics I have found a few knives and scrapers similar to that but you can see flaking on them probably just a call you will have to determine the other piece I would say just natural

It certainly looks like hematite. If it is and you rub it against something slightly abrasive you will get a red powder that will stain red if mixed with water or light oil.

Look like rocks

Thanks for the replies guys, identifying worked quartz is very difficult for me, unless its obvious. I don't think the object I found is an artifact, but I'll keep it nonetheless. I did do a streak test with the hematite-like object, and it left behind a red powder(I dropped it on accident.) Thanks for the replies, and I'll probably stop with my pictures quartz geofacts. Every setback is an experience to learn from, and I am thankful for patience and help members of this forum have provided for me and some of my more questionable posts.
