Anybody work with quartz? Was wondering about heat treating it. Have done some work with it with minimal results. Quartzite isn't any better. I've found that copper and antler aren't doing the trick. The only results I've gotten have been from hammerstones and those points are rough. Let me know if you have any tips or can show your quartz points.

You cant heat treat it, it is the most difficult rock to work with and i have no idea how the guys near me made everything so sharp, if youd like some from virginia to give a try dm me with adress and ill shoot you a box, but im guessing you already have some
Good luck with the headaches,
Grant

Probably79% of my finds are quartz and some worked rather nicely. I just can't reproduce it. They had to use stone to do it. I keep looking for really good pieces to use and end up messing it up. It's extremely had to work with.
