Get a diamond blade and and cut that section of rock out.

Are those quartz crystals in the cavity?

Would be a nice specimen.

Yes, that whole rock is quartz

That's not the only spot with gold in it.

A small chunk of that rock as a specimen might be worth more
than the gold in that small section of rock.

Nice find!

Ever been to the Tucson Gem and Mineral show?

If that Quartz is full of wire gold it might have more cavities inside.

Thanks [emoji1303]
I'm looking for where it came from.

I've never been, would love to go someday!
I'm hoping it does have more wire inside it. We shall see.

Nice rock with gold in it. Maybe different metal detectors can tell you if there is more gold in the rock.

Smash it and pan it then go look for more :headbang:

Any luck breaking up the rock quartz?

Not yet, been busy at work.

Well then, I think you need to fake a stomach bug and get back home and crack that puppy open.

I want to see whats inside.
Yes this is one "Puppy" people want to see cracked open. Maybe a smaller 4 inch coil will help to see where the values are inside after it is "Cracked up a little' no joke intended. However Oregongold76 may start laughing a little when the "Puppy is opened".
May have to take a few days to recover.......LOL.

Nice piece of float. Hope you are able to trace to it's origin.

I don't think you said.......was it found with one of your detectors?

May want to try a carbide drill bit in some of the hole pockets that don't have values to help break up the rock. If you are lucky maybe a rough line of deeper holes will make the rock easier to crack open the rock. First try a gold type of metal detector to mark any values inside to stay away from with the drill bit. Keep us posted. The rock mite crack or explode open in a campfire be careful with this as you can hurt yourself with this method.

Another reason to crack open the rock is for clues of the type of quarts and country rock that can help you track down the source. Be sure to use a lens when looking over the quarts for clues. Many people out there take years or never find frocks like this so thank you for posting OregonGold76.
Hope you find some 'Wire gold' there.

Thanks, I'll keep y'all posted. [emoji1303]

Don't know if the type, size and shape of crystals are any help of finding like rocks near the source. However cracking open the rock should yield many more clues. The smaller pieces should make it easier to saw up the better sample pieces with a rock saw. Do you have any idea how far the rock float may have traveled?
