I traded for the unit a couple of days ago at first I was ready to wrap it around a tree, glad I didn't after a couple of hunts I began to realize its a very sensitive and deep detector it will find the smallest things found the back to and earring(gold) the stud type at 5 inches.
You have to be very patient if the coin is only a couple of inches it will cherp like a bird found a quarter at 11 inches.
Oh by the way a very good transaction with Surfdog everything went smooth.

Good to hear that this machine works well. I generally do not see much info on it. It's always seemed to me that it can have the same power as the Explorer line, just less settings options. Personally, I'd buy one if I knew it punched as deep, discriminated as well and recovered at least as good as the XS which I'm sure recovers slower than the newer Explorer models.

pretty soon that machine will be playing the sounds of silver! im glad you are taking the time to learn it. i think a lot of folks give up too soon because the minelab machines sound sooo much different than other machines.

Glad to hear Dave keep with it and go slow . Im a Quattro user myself and it's a great detector . It is a slower recovery machine than it's big brother the Explorer models . But it goes deep . I run it All Metal no disc , sensitivity 16 to 18 most of the time . Also High Trash Density for quicker recovery amongst trash . Good Luck .... ;D

In my opinion the Quattro gets a little too bad of a rap. I had one for about 6 months and would have loved to keep it but needed the money toward an explorer. In my experience the Quattro was a deeper machine than my Explorer II. It was a good detector but you had to run it with very little discrimination and go slow. And yes, it doesn't perform as well in sites loaded with iron.
