Cool story, you figure that some one would have found some of what was dropped by now, as Gold doesn't really drift well. The average temperature of the water was around 22*f at the time I was out there and would have been prohibitive in those days.
I was out there while working for a mining company in the foggy past '70's. There's gold in them thar hills for sure,..just gotta find it lol.
I panned out there and Northern Vancouver island, totally void of any know how but managed a few slivers and flakes.
The company store for one place I worked for in the Port Hardy area had a steel Gold pan in the inventory for someone who had quit already and that's how I got interested to pan for Gold. Good salesman and I still have the pan.
But I selfishly digress, I would search for the Gold in the story after some research, and if I got my chance.
