Query on bronze sculpture signature

The sculpture is a post 1940 hot cast bronze lion and the sculptor's name appears written in capital letters and seems to be DEBV.J - does anyone know of this sculptor, full name, nationality, please?

Jean Didier Debut (1824-1893) was a French sculptor. If you are sure that it is post 1940, then it is a reproduction made with the lost wax casting process.

also he said "DEBV.J" I may be wrong to suggest it's J. DEBUT

Or it could be a Knock-off / Counterfeit where they change the name just enough to get piggy back
on the popularity of the name.
(like Dollar General/Family Dollar and Jessie James/Jesse Jane)
