I picked up a 2001 silver eagle the other day and I just noticed that the back is not the same as my other eagles. This one says DAWN OF A NEW MILLENNIUM , but my question is that when flipped over the back is not facing like it should. When looking at the front and you flip it, the back should be upright. Just like any other coins. This one is not. My other eagles are. This one is not. Is this an error or was it common for that year. I googled it but did not find any info. Any help would be great. oh it is not a fake.

here is a pic

A picture would sure help and it may be a Silver Round

What you have is a medal. It is not a US Mint issue. What you describe is Medallic Orientation versus Coin Orientation. I hope that it is a silver round .999 fine so you still have the bullion. Worse case scenario is that you have a silver plated copper core medal.

oh ok. It is stamped 1 troy oz .999 fine silver. thanks for the quick reply

Definitely NOT an eagle. Sorry

I owned about 100 of them one time. I believe they are from the "Sunshine" mint if I am not mistaken.... :icon_scratch:

sorry it is not a silver eagle, but 1 troy oz

thanks guys. picked it for under spot. although if silver keeps dropping I wont be ahead. let hope silver jumps back up some. HH

Why is this in CRH thread?

Sorry. Because I was out CRH and picked this up. If it's not ok then you can move it.
