Question About a Bag of Halves

I'm thinking about getting a bag of halves from my Credit Union. Would they have a bag with different circulated years in it or will it be a bag straight from the U.S. Mint with just one certain year? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I've never bought a bag before and don't want to look stupid when I ask them. Thanks.

I imagine you will get one of the following three bags.

Highly unlikely you would get a bag from the mint since they did not release for circulation any halves since 2000-2001.

Unless you order from the Mint itself it is my understanding that the mint sends its coins to the Federal Reserve who then dispurses them.


1. You will get a bag from the Credit Union Coin Counter.

2. You will get a bag from the armored car company. This could be a bag they compiled or one sent in from another bank then sent out to you.

3. You will get rolled coins in a box.

Not sure this helped, but ask them to sell you $1000.00 in halves and see what you get.

Look at the tag on the bag as it might give you a clue where it came from.

What part of the USofA you in?
