I have a AT pro and a F75. I've been using the F75 for the last couple of months getting to know it and I had a feeling the balancing was off because it would have the same balance in too different locations, plus I would getting a lot of choppy singles I mean a lot. Well I took out my ATP to the same small area and it ground balances perfect in the 80 range and all those choppy singles were clear asa bell. Would to different detectors have close to the same number? Would they have such a big difference as these two? AT pro 84 - F75 43. Same spot

I am sorry I can't answer your question mate but since you have both can I ask you one? The two machines are close to the same price range, do you have a preference of the two and what advantages/disadvantages does one have over the other. If you had to pick one which would it be and why?

I have lived in Lake Charles for a couple of years and worked in New Orleans several times but always stay in Slidell. I love New Orleans, the people and food. I guess my total time in New Orleans is over a year and I always enjoy it.

No, two different manufacturers. The big question is will the F75 balance or not? If yes, then there is no problem. Your SENSITIVITY should be lowered slightly if you are getting choppy signals. Keep in mind that soil conditions can change every few yards. That is why "Auto Ground Tracking" is offered on many machines. I have been in gold- and strewn- fields where mineralization changed every 15-feet!

Check the sensitivity settings on the F75, as I think you may be using too much. Normal sensitivity settings should be around 7, on a 1-10 scale. :skullflag:

Hey Cosmo if I had to say which one I would pick over the other today would be the ATP. I get much better quality signals and it's submergible. I'm having problems getting my F75 to balance correctly so that's why I am going with the ATP today. I've just had the F75 for two months so I really don't know it as well. But I do love my ATP and I'll never get rid of it. As far as the F75 well we'll see LOL

P.S. Most of my family lives in Eden Isles and I just had some Redfish and fried speckle trout :-)

Hey Terry! I will be in the yard and ground balance at 42 which, I feel is kind a low, then it my ground balance at 57 another time and then it will ground balance at 71 in the same yard. And even when I bring it down to 60 it seems like the signals are always very choppy, then I'll go over it with the ATP and it's solid as a rock and will always ground balance at the same number religiously. When I ground balance the F75 I always lower my sensitivity to zero. I don't know if it's me or if I should send it to Fisher.

Hmmm, might be a sick puppy. :dontknow:

Thank you Sir for the answer. I would like to save my clad and get myself a backup one day is why I ask these questions. You guys with much more experience than myself are very helpful.

Do not give up on the F75! I repeat, do not give up on the F75! I know several that have gone from the AT Pro to the F75 and they love them! All say the F75 is a much better detector than the AT Pro. I can not say as I have never had an AT Pro. I have had my F75 since 2008 and had the update done and love it. It sounds like your F75 is a bit sick and needs to go to the doctor. I do recommend that before you do that, you do a factory reset and if you have another coil, try swapping coils and make sure your connector is screwed on snug. Before I did my upgrade, my F75 would have problems in several locations with EMI but since the upgrade, I can detect in those spots in DST mode with no problems. Oh, the advice to turn down the sensitivity is a good one. The F75 will get real good depth at sensitivity as low as 20, believe me! I did a whole yard one time at sensitivity set at 1 after messing around and went back over the yard at sensitivity 85 and only found a copper penny that I had missed. High sensitivity can cause noise problems on the F75.

I sure will. I'm gonna take your advice and see how she acts. Mine has the DST as well does that come on automatically?

OK, DST 80 % in 9.0 and 100% in 9.1 Yes, DST comes on automatically. The F75 'remembers' your settings and every time the detector is turned off, the settings will be the same the next time it is turned on. To change between 9.0 and 9.1, you have to do a factory reset and turn the 'settings' knob to select which mode to run. Each time a factory reset is done you will need to set the F75 up with the settings you want to use. There are many good videos on YouTube that will show you some good info on how to set up and use the F75. I highly recommend you watch a bunch of them and if there is something you do not understand, then come back to the forum and ask questions. The guys here know their stuff! Good luck, and again, do not give up on the F75! It is a wonderful detector and with the proper setup, is capable of hunting in just about every soil condition there is.

Thank you I didn't know about the 9.0 or 9.1 setting. Thank you so much for the advice.
