I deal with those cruise ships when they come in to Halifax and have talked to crew from othe lines about this very question and no answer. I would call the line direct or get your agent to look into it sir. I know for fact detectors are a no go into Cuba!

Carnival says yes:
• Items for In Port Use only: Snorkel gear, skateboards, fishing rods (packed), tennis rackets, kites (packed), roller blades/skates, metal detectors, Boogie Boards no more than 42 Inches in length. These items must be stored in stateroom.

Ya I got talked into camping only later to find out no MD'ing allowed, I almost hung someone! Hope it works out for you!

Finally, I meet people way more addited than I. I am going to print this forum to show my wife! "See babe, it could be a lot worse!"

Carnival tried to ban them a few years ago, but several letters from forum members helped them change their mind. Norwegian is touch and go, but I think Royal Caribbean allows them too. You might try to email someone higher up to get a clarification or permission.
