Hello everyone,

I'm new to this and love to collect coins. I've been going to many banks and most do not seem to have many halves. I ordered some from my bank and they said they will, BUT they don't know when they will order them and don't know when they will arrive after they order them.

Is this normal or am I getting the run around?

As is it a no no to dump at the same place you order?

I just don't want to be ignorant and ruin things for myself and others who do this.

I also ran into a bank that has a boat load of Susan B Anthony's ... are there any dates or proofs that are worth going after?

Thank you for your answers and happy hunting,

It does sound about like you might be getting a run around. The vault person should know relatively accurately when they would get them in as they order coins all the time. As far as whether it is a no-no to dump them where you get them, it really depends. Most people (me included) do NOT dump them where they buy them. In fact, most of us dont even dump them at the same bank company. I buy mine from Chase, and use Wells Fargo and Bank of America as my dump banks.

Ya, it could be a round-around answer for sure.

They also may have interpreted your wanting them to order halves differently.
They may just be thinking you asked them to order some for the bank, so you
may get some. I would double check and assure them that "YOU" want to
order boxes for your own purchase.

I agree, they order coin weekly and know how it works.... :) Give 'em a call and
confirm your order ! Good luck.

I did let them know that I wanted to purchase the box ($1,000.00) . She just seemed like it was a burdon. Lasalle Bank is the one I went to. There was nobody else in the lobby and I was very polite and all smiles, chitchatted. She just could not understand why anyone would want that many halves. I told her I was coin collecting and filling up some holes in my folders. She suggested calling the fed. mint to see if they would help? I told her that this was the easiest way. I believe she thinks I'm nuts. I guess if she's not gonna be nice than they become my dump bank.

"Nuts" is a complement to fellow CRHers. The more people who think we are nuts, the easier the coin hunting. You might try taking the girls a box o donuts one morning. They will remember you forever and it is $5 well spent. They will start saving the good stuff for you. Cheers, Jim

I usually go in on my lunch break from work, so not sure doughnuts would be as acceptable. Maybe some bags of candy & nuts .... my customers love them!

Thanx again for everyones help & comments, I really appreciate yer help. I hope I don't dump at yer banks.

A can of Almond Roca works wonders :) Look around at other banks, you might have to open an account at a friendly bank that has no problems dealing with CRH's, I did this last week and will get my first boxes from them Wednesday.

my box is coming in tomorrow, she actually called me back. I thought this one was a lost cause.

I'm gonna pick them up on Friday ... I can't wait, my first box! I hope this box is good so my wife doesn't think I'm crazy and that everyone is making this up online. she's a little skeptical. If anything I hope to fill my book.

Will report this weekend, wish me good luck ... as Earl would say gank dem silvas
