I have had my se squeal when pin pointing (usally cans but not always) and sometimes it humes is this due to depth and size of the object? I also did a air test with some med size coins with a 12 inch coil and it was silent at 5 inches or so, does that sound correct?

I usually get the 'squeal' during pinpoint if the target is sitting on the surface.

That is correct. The closer the target is to the surface, the louder the PP is. I believe the manual states if it is a larger item it will be louder too. Been awhile since I read it.

I have also got the "whaka whaka " for overload indicating Manhole cover or something But I did get the squeal once and dug a newer quarter right under the sod. I also have got the squeal when item was laying on top.
