To start I don't know much about dowsing. I far as i'm concerned unless you have tried with without bias that you can not discredit it. My question is I have a map that I got from this man and I was wondering if it is a dowsed map? The man got the map from a widow of a guy that had a couple of hundred research books that he bought from her. The map shows indian sites, oil deposits, shipwrecks with whats their and sites that say gold or silver how much and how deep. I told the guy that bought the books to look throught the books to see if he could see where his research would lead him to beleive the marks on the map was from the books, but I don't think he did. The story the man told me was that the widow asked her husband before his death where the information was to find these treasures and the man pointed to his head and said it's here and never told her anything. What I would like to know is if you dowse a map do you see whats hidden and how deep it is. I just don't know why someone would go through the trouble of making such a map with so much information and not have any truth to it. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Dell. I asked the man that gave me a copy of the map if he thought it was a dowsed map and he said no. But I was thinking how could you know what was buried and how deep by reading a book. The reason that I was interested in the map was there was a spot the was marked close to where I use to live at in a small town. The one thing is that a dot on a map in a county is so general that only the person that did it knows where the general area is. It would be like throwing a coin out of an airplane flying over the county and trying to find it after you landed. I have one more question to ask you. If you dowsed a map that had so many riches marked, would'nt you try to find some of them. If his widow was selling his research books she must not of been rich from him finding the treasure that he put on the map. Thanks for the info.

When I dowse maps I am just getting you in the area. The rest is up to you. Get a clean map and have someone dowse it then compare the two. That’s the easy way to find how accurate the map is….I am not rich but that is my fault. Call it lazy or whatever...I am having fun...Art

Mich. Wolvererine…Send a clean map to me and I will give it a try…Art

Thanks Dell and Art for the information and insite of dowsing. I do metal detect but I do it for the preservation of the history of the town that I live in. I have never persused anything on the map. Treasure to me is finding a relic from my town and have never sold any relics that I have found. I have people ask me all the time what's the thing that you have found that has the most value. I'm not in it for the money but if I was to find some buried coins that would be great. I tell people if your in it for the money chances are slim to make much. I think it's great you guys do this and would like to know more about it. Thanks alot guys.

Thanks Art. The map that I have is the u.p., lower Mi. and the great lakes. I would like to ask a question about a different map. I've found a map that shows a building that predates anything known in the county that I live in. If I can prove through finding something metal detecting that this was a settlement, I could change some of the history of the county. This map is very old and not very detailed. I was wondering if you can dowse a map to give me a more accurate location of this building? If you can, would an Ariel photo work? This is not a monumental history changing thing, but it means alot to me. Thanks for any help.

Hey Wolverrine….Ariel Views are fine and old maps are so-so….Looking at history would be a welcome thing to do..I can ask questions that would apply to metal detecting as well as deeper targets. I have looked for lost cats and things like that before. I don’t know if I can come up with the right questions so your input would be of value. My idea of treasure is whatever a person thinks it is. Just click on my screen name and my e-mail address is there. ..My wife is from St. Clair Mi and I have been there a few times. Beautiful area…Art
