I've heard the lake Piru area is a good place to go prospecting. Well I am currently working on the mountain directly south of Piru and 126. Has anyone ever looked in the area that I'm at. It's called Oakridge and it's up Torrey Canyon Rd. I'm just looking for any tips some of you might have. Thanks

It would be useful for you to get out and Test the streams or dry beds to determine what might be there. Classic panning or dry washing are in order and that takes feet on the ground out where you are interested in going and this is how it has been done for many years. Best of luck with your prospecting, stay safe out there, bring plenty of water and enjoy the scenery!................63bkpkr

Follow the west side road to the back of the lake and there is a huge floodplain. There used to be a campground across the creek. From there up on the east wall bedrock shows in spots and productive. About a mile in on the south wall is a skinny canyon that produces pretty good after spring flows,if any this year. The island looking mass in the plain middle never showed much color but no bedrock showing back in the day. Only mined up to about 2 miles up the plain but gold was there, now???John
