Quick fix for erractic whites probe

I was getting frustrated by the erratic operation of my whites probe. I don't know if the cover does not push down enough or if the springs behind the battery contacts were weakened. I had use some folded paper as a on the fly fix but it failed. I took some foam from a discarded jewelry box, cut a small piece and put it on top of the battery. Closed the cover and it behaves perfectly. Even tapping it on the ground gives no chirps or beeps. Problem solved.
