Went to new permission field near my job. Found some older items. Was a 1890s home there but tore down in the 1950s.

Unique finds any idea what they are for ?
The star, appears to be a cover that sits over a large nut as a retainer. If so , the bolt would have a hole for a cotter pin just above this retainer.
It would work similarly to a castellated nut. Generally for machinery. That’s my guess.👍🏼
