Quick question about the sand shark?

HI, this is probably not threadworthy, but is the sand shark waterproof without headphones in? If/whhen I get a Sand Shark, I don't have headphones, so I don't want to break it on my first day on the beach!

The headphones come with it and are "hardwired" into the control box.
