I had noticed yesterday that mister winter was going to dump 6 inches of snow on me Weds. The last few days ,it's been rainy and mild so it's got rid of a lot of the white stuff. I figured I should try to make it out otherwise it might be March before I can. There's a cellar 10 minutes away that I found last year so I hopped in the car and went. I've been here 4 times and found a little more each time. I only had a hour so my expectations were low. I got there and the snow was only 1-2 inches so that wasn't bad. The great thing is in the woods, the ground doesn't freeze. I was there for about 10 minutes and I get this nice, clean mid tone. My first find of 2018 was a great escutcheon! There was still something in the hole so I stuck the pinpointer in and pulled out the pull that was on it,cool!
. My next hit I was sure it was a coin but it was the largest lamp piece I had ever dug. That would have been quite a flame!
. After that I dug the usual iron bits and rusted metal for a while. Time was running out so I started walking back to the car and had a iron/high tone hit. Normally, I wouldn't dig this but the numbers weren't crappy. The first thing was a rusted pill box but when I looked in the hole, I saw a spoon handle sticking up. No pinpointer necessary. It says" u.s. silver co "on the so that puts it around 1910-1930. The spoon was under the box so that was cool that I could hear it.
. Anyway, not much but great to get out!
Happy Hunting!!
