RAILROAD LOCK ??

I dug this lock face about 8 in down near a adobe site.maybe railroad lock? I cant find this type with key guard same length as lock,also a # 2 inside lock....someone sure busted this apart !! can anyone give some info/year?? thanks.

looks like a No. 2 Excelsior Brass lever lock. I don't think it is a railroad lock though.

Hello creskol.. I did see the Excelsior #6 brass lever lock,but I didnt see anything called a Excelsior #2 brass lock..the #6 has writing on the hole guard..the one i found does not. If the lock was complete,the #2 would be hidden inside the lock. too bad i didnt find more of it !
