Rainy Day LC's and Rosies

Had a break in the rain for a couple hours, hit an old cellar pit which is not to far from a colonial file factory in my area. While nothing colonial came out of the soil, I did nail two large cents, an 1825 Coronet and a 1852 Braided (real crappy condition), and two Rosie's..not counting the zincoln's and other clad.

It appears that the Coronet is larger than the braided, maybe its just me.

According to the "Redbook" of U.S. Coins you are correct, the Matron Head Cent is larger- 28-29mm (I thought this 1 mm variance-
was interesting ) compared with 27.5 for the Braided Hair LC.

I guess the old adage is correct, a site is never hunted out..probably will hit it again tomorrow.. Thanks for the info..the rosie's and the LC's are adding up.

Nice finds thanks for sharing.

I think the two Largies in one location indicate a very promising site indeed - Hey , I'd be going back if I found two wheat pennies !!

Very nice, I have LC's in much worse shape, not bad I'd say. Thanks for sharing... wishing I had a break in the rain like that one today! Congrats

Nice LC's and Rosies! Congrats! Looks like your going for doubles!

It's surprising what comes out of well hunted places.
I'd be happy to dig one LC or a Rosie, or a wheat!

Still waiting for my first dug flying eagle cent...wishful thinking on my part..lol

Great finds, good work, just a suggestion, might work for you. Upgrade to an AT Pro and see what you come up with at that site? You could use mine to try? I don't know which machine you used, I never had a Whites, but I did have a 250. You have been coming up with great finds, good sites, location, location, location.

I was using my 250 for this location. I am breaking out the MX5 today. Drop me a line about the AT Pro.

Wow, those are some real treasures. Good hunting grounds my friend!
