"Rancho Devoido"
Went for a dig today at a place called "Rancho Josey". In the 1940s, "Colonel" C.W. Josey purchased the first 70 acres of "Rancho Josey," and continued to acquire acreage to raise buffalo and longhorns. Today the remainder of the 1,000-acre ranch contains a popular city sports complex. The lake on the site is the result of a quarry supplying clay to one of Carrollton's two brick factories. Anyway, I swung a 10' coil for almost 5 hours and I must say it was one of the most debris free areas I have encountered. After the rain we just had the ground was nice and soft. I dug the usual few chunks of mishapen lead and some pop-tops but no coinage.
The only items of interest were a 38. practice bullet and a 2001 dogtag. The bullet has a blue plastic projectile that just sits on the stem attached to the solid brass casing. Happy hunting everyone!!
