Here is a few buttons I found in California. These are rare eagle d buttons that I found near a gold mine. This is pre civil war stuff. This design was first used in 1833 thru 1855 I believe. But for some reason not many are found. Enjoy the pictures. And if anyone has any please post some pics. Thanks..

Dragoon buttons, what do the backmarks read?

Bill

It reads Scovills & Co <> EXTRA<> .

Hello Rick,as you know the Dragoons were what the Calvary would become, and although they are not "common",anywhere, they are rare where yours were found but as you know there was good reason they were where you found them(great history). When you get into areas there was alot of Dragoon activity such as the Dakotas,Kansas, etc.they are found much more.At any rate they are a fabulous find and are my list top dig! A buddy just dug five in our general vicinty, and as with yours the history as to why they were where they were is as fascinating as yours!!

Howdy RH1 and welcome to TreasureNet!! Great Dragoon buttons, thanks for sharing them with us!! I look forward to seeing more of your finds! Great key also, is it a clock key or is it for locks? Just curious, it is awesome either way!! Regards, Skypilot02

Skypilot...not sure what the key went to..found it with the dragoon buttons.

It is a lock key.We find that style quite frequently in the period sites as yours
