Nice find! In the 80's I was a cachier at a gas station that was frequented regularly by suites coming into downtown Denver. They always paid with a credit card. One day I saw a regular credit card payor getting done with pumping his gas and I got the credit card machine ready for him. Your confirmation that they are going to pay with a credit card was that they didn't try to hit a even number, they'd quit pumping when the tank was full so most of the time the total was like $23.48 or some other odd number. Such was the case this time as well but when he got to the counter, he handed me a zip up bank bag with a bunch of change in it. He said, "there is exactly $_____ in the bag", which was his purchase price that day. I thanked him and he left and when I had time, I looked through the bag and found about a half roll of 1909 vdb pennies that were mostly all uncirculated.(some werre brown) Bright red wheaties and 09 vdb's to boot! It was a good day to be a cashier. Back then they weren't worth all that much. Now they are doing much better and I still have most of them in my safe.

Nice recovery Susan!
Two years ago I found one in my bank's coinstar reject tray as well. I put it in my pocket with my other change which was a BIG mistake.
