Got out with my buddy who is bartek on here. We dug tons of great old silvers. Finally got an ID in my relic. It’s a 71st regiment of foot (Fraser’s highlanders) piece! Wow...amazing Rev War piece. Can't believe how much Rev War stuff has been dug recently, but by far this is the best of the best. Quite a rare and pricey piece!

Awesome hunt. They wore those on the bonnets (hats).

Great find! Finally got an ID? I could have told you that from a mile away... maybe even from standing in my field today -- the place where I wasn't digging Rev War! :)

Hey Bart! Know anyone who does restoration? I wonder if they would say it’s to far gone! I would love to get a professional opinion!

Wow very nice find! :icon_thumleft: I like the seated too!

I Know there’s a guy on here that does amazing job bringing crusty plates and relics back to life ...maybe some can refresh my memory.

Fantastic hunt, congratulations! :notworthy:

I would soak an edge of it in lemon juice. There's a reasonable chance there's not a bad looking plate under there and you just have to remove the crust. You can send it to someone, but they'd almost certainly do the same thing.

Amazing find! Big congratulations!

Thanks fantastic man! Well done on the research this year

Very cool, but excuse my ignorance.
You say piece, what exactly is it?
A button?
A token?
What?
Can we see the other side?
Never saw anything like this before.

It's a cartridge box plate worn by a 71st Regiment soldier during the Revolutionary War.

Looking again this morning with a fresh mind that condition seems off to me. I wonder if that is fire damage and can't be cleaned.

Personally on this one, I wouldn't, I don't think it will help/react well.

Great finds! I really gives a picture of how sophisticated the British war machine was, and a new appreciation for our freedom..
