Rare sight:$20 gold piece- huge

Of all places, a guy I know showed me some of his inheritance at the bar last night, including this 1855 s $20 gold piece- sucker is huge, like a half dollar size. Just wanted to share, since I'll probably never see one again.He also had an1887 $5 gold piece and newer silver. Happy hunting!

Kind of gives you some sense of how heavy a box or saddle bag of those would be back in the day, trying to out run a posse. No wonder they stopped and buried them.
