My yesterdays findings from same field area than earlier. This time I was lucky, found rare silver Swedish 2 öre (used 1570-1590). Condition is not very good but this was my first silver coin this year 8). Lots of musketballs and I found my buckle that I dropped earlier ;D. Here is photo of it. Some other coins: Öre 1666, 1/4 öre from 1630-60 and 1/12 skilling 1802. These are all swedish coppers.

Good silver finds 1500,s that is a oldie i like that buckle :icon_thumleft: Good hunt Dd60

Nice coins; great finds !
The "1/12" will have a diameter of about 20.5 mm, weight 2.4 grams.
On the obverse is a stylized "G IV A", for King Gustav IV Adolf.

Is that Buckle Viking? :o

Nice silver :icon_thumright:

I also attended this field hunt with Aquila. Here are my finds:

A set of Swedish coins from 17th and 18th century,
two Russian copeks from 18th century,
two Finnish penni-coins from the end of 18th century,
some belt buckles, musket balls, buttons, 100 gram weight
and a miniature spatula :laughing7:

Its at least 500 years old, I will now have a look in my books. Its a real good one, not a type I have had, only a little similar.

Thanks :). And I almost lost it....

I think this is a very special buckle. Its not in any of my books which is why I'm struggling to ID it. My gut says its 10th Century :o but it maybe Medieval (13-14th C). :dontknow: This needs further research, not recorded on any of the UK databases that I can tell.

I think its Viking & horse related :headbang:

PS. turn it point down & you can see the Beast head with ears, eyes & nose - classic Saxon/Viking imagery

Some really cool stuff. I like those early finds.

I emailed an expert friend (specially in Saxon/Viking) & he agrees the buckle looks Viking similar to Finish examples from the excavations at Luristari and also from the Southern Baltic :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:

:o :o :o

The Buckle is Zoomorphic, so fits in the Anglo Saxon/Viking period, a bit similar to this one :read2: Great find, I'd rather have that than the Silver coin :icon_thumleft:
