Just speaking up with Confirmation... Creskol and AARC are definitely correct. Here is the crucial ID-clue, for anybody who doesn't already know. The Confederates never manufactured any buckles with "arrowhead" belt-hooks. So, if you see arrowhead hooks on any lead-filled buckle which somebody claims is an original 1860s Confederate one, it is cbsolutely a modernday Imitation.

Steve... here is the problem with your buckle...

1. This is one of... If not THE most faked antique made.

2. even veteran collectors wont buy these unless their own grandmother or another relative dug it WITH pictures. heh

3. there is even debate on whether or not there was even a buckle at all. :/... I know go figure.

I am by NO means an expert in Civil War era items... let alone buckles... CannonBallGuy is better suited for that.

When I last saw one auction in roughly 2016... for OVER 3k... Hence the extreme copies that exist.

This is something you need to post on a Civil War Forum... to get to the bottom of it.

I was always told the "lead backs" were a farce... so... ?

I figured it be a reproduction but i know very little about Civil War relics. The price was $13 so i thought that i should ask the experts. Thanks to Everybody!
