here is something I never bothered to find out about.... little bit of coin history

Mexico used the medieval system of dineros and granos to measure the fineness of their coins, twelve dineros designating pure silver with each dinero divided into 24 granos. A coin of 10 Ds. 20 Gs equated to .902777 fine.

no, I am in the process of putting together (expanding) a Mexican coin set from 1535 to the present day. It is a very deep well to dip into and makes my U.S. set look like kindergarten stuff! In researching write ups for various coins and series I have come across all sorts of interesting coin facts.

Yikes, that's like trying to put together a German type set. Where do you start, and better yet, where do you stop! :laughing7:

OMG! can you imagine a German set?! All those principalities and kingdoms...when do you start it, who do you include, what is "German" for that matter! I would probably just do a silver "crown" set for German states and call it a day.
