Really not sure if it's Coin Jewelry?

I picked this pin at an estate sale today for $1. It's Arabic and I am thinking that it was made out of a coin. Also I am not sure of the metal. At first I was thinking bronze but then maybe gold? With the attached clasp it weighs 6.7 grams.

So far I have been able to translate the Arabic year to 1263 (1842 AD).

Any help would be appreciated.

It looks similar to a Turkey 1223/28 3 Kurush which is a .4350 fineness silver. The quoted weight for that coin is Weight varies: 5.60-6.20 grams. which would seem to fit.

It may have been gilded for use in jewelry.
