Really a bummer day....got up super early to get to an old house site that must have dated back to the mid to late 1800's. This place must have been hit a bazillion times before, there was nothing left that two guys could pick up. I did find a dandy U.S. Goverment Type 1 Brass swivel snap hook that cleaned up real good. No markings, but it does have a fissure in the shank of the hook.......seen with a loupe. The other item that should have been a quarter, turned out to be a tin of moist rouge #3 and there is a small stamp...BB2....also on the bottom of the tin. I could find nothing on the rouge. I believe there was a label on the top of the can at some time....long since gone. Don't know how old it is, but, it has held up well for any length of time in iron ore dirt.

The brass snap hook appears to be pretty old, but, has held up well in the ground. I had great expectations for this site, but, not to be today!

I guess we all have our ups and downs. Tomorrow might be your banner day.

And not really that poor a day. Worked yesterday clearing brush/debris from an 1890 house nearby, and will likely not find anything much today either. But know there's a cache of about $400 face value in "mostly" gold coins there dated before 1932, so still looking darn carefully. Hoping there's one of those elusive 1916 SLQ's on the premises. Found some broken glass and ceramics, and may post some pics soon.

Think how happy you'd be to post a $10 gold along with that snap! I am!

Get back out there and git r dun!!!!! You will have a better day next time out  jgas

Thanks for the encouragement, gang, but, I really don't need it.......I love this hobby!! The wife is having her right knee replaced this week, so, it will be a while before I am able to "get away."
No doubt, a bad day MD'ing is a LOT better than a day at work!! :icon_thumleft:
