Recent Finds & Question - Axe versus Large Scraper??

I had a great hunt the other day. No points but a tonne of different types of knives.

My question is what makes something a "Hand Ax" versus just a large scraper/tool? And is there anything distinctive about one or the other to make it easier to tell them apart?

I don't know the answer to your question but I love the stone that is striped, what type stone is it?

What I see that you have are a lot of stone that was chipped to see if it would work for knapping, a preform and maybe a spall, but no knifes. You are in a good spot keep looking and you are going to find a killer.
