I was recently running some errands with my 21 year old daughter which included stopping at a couple of banks. After making a deposit to my safe deposit box at the first bank, I saw that there was no one in line at the counter, so I decided to go up and ask about half dollars. The counter teller said she had none, but the drive through teller piped up and said she had $11. I agreed to take them off her hands. As I was exchanging my currency for the half dollars, my daughter and I could see that the two loose half dollars were silver, while the other 20 were in a customer wrapped roll. My daughter got more excited than I was and quietly said, "Look, silver." I quickly grabbed the half dollars, thanked the teller, and rushed out so no one could claim that I had received the coins in error. Once in the car, my daughter started urging me to open the roll (as if I could wait to get home before opening it). All the rolled half dollars except for two were silver. Out of 22 half dollars, 20 were 40% silver! The three attached photographs are from this score.
We then stopped at a second bank so my daughter could withdraw some cash. The second bank had $90 of customer wrapped half dollar rolls. I saw nothing but clad when I peeked in a couple of the rolls out in the car, so I waited until we got home to go through them. There was one sole 40% silver in the batch. Not as good as from the first bank, but I'll take it.
