Relic Hunting
Got out a few times over the last 10 days and got into some relics and keepers. Not a homerun but had fun digging them. Thanks for looking and HH to all!

I think I disagree. Sure looks like a homerun hunt to me. Maybe, not a grandslam, but a homer for sure. :icon_thumright:

HH!

Looks like a whole bunch of nice finds. Going to look good in the collection. Little bit of everything and some cool buttons.

I've always been jealous of you guys up in Virginia! I don't seem to find those kinds of things down here in Florida. Nice finds!

I really do not know for certain. What I can tell you is I found it on a house site that dated to 1890. Now, with that said, I have also found some civil war bullets and buttons from the same site. It is right next to a creek that is no longer navigable by larger boats do to some damming to the other creeks in the area. The original landowner , who is 96, told me when he was a young child ships and barges would dock on the creek and load wheat and grain from the local farms in the area and ship them to Norfolk, VA. The Confederates used the creek because of a local mill downstream about a half mile from this site that dates to 1790's. They left in 1862 and then the blue bellies took over the area. I thought it was a barrel tap or something of that nature. Maybe Bill D. will view this thread and have input as he is well versed in early American relics. Thank you and good luck!
