Minelab x-terra 70, Fisher F75, eyes, brain
The Sunray X-1 probe should also be here by Monday. I want to cut my teeth in old parks, medium amount of trash. I know there is a learning curve, but I still want a chance to find some oldies. In the mid nineties I found plenty of oldies in the worked out parks, now I want to work them out again. Thanks for any help on setting and recommendations...Ryan

I recommend you just start out with the preset factory settings to get a feel for what the thing can do before changing anything. This detector is different from anything you've used before and you should start slow, the oldies will come if your in the right location. Just my two cents.

I know it is very different. I am used to pinpointing within a few square inches with my GTI 2500, and popping clad with the best of them, but it is time to back to the oldies. I like the idea of the tone id along with the depth. Thanks for the rely Sandman. I have pulled over 20,000 coins in my carrer, so we will see if this "old dog" can learn new tricks. I will go to my Garrett for clad popping though, you can't eat the 2500 for that.

pinpointing with the explorer is very good..i know some people here on tnet say that it does not pinpoint well but in seven years of using them i find they pinpoint right on..
Good luck and let us know how you do!!!!

Yeah, I actually sold the 2500 to help pay medical bills, but I have been blessed with income from a source I didn't count on. I probably could have made it without selling, but the pain in my neck, shoulder, back, and hip is so intense I didn't want to swing a detector anymore. I now realize it is a mistake to do that, and I am getting back in the ball game. I am going to try and go out with my backup detector to get the feel of the swing down today. I have had 2 minor spinal surgeries in the last 7 weeks to try and help with pain but they did nothing. Hopefully I can get some good days in before winter hits. We still have to hit Liberty Park together...Ryan

Hey Utah,

1 word, Percocet. ::)

Just kidding, I have a terrible back as well. Couple surgeries too. I sometimes think swinging the detector outside has helped a little. Good luck on your back pain.

Percocet, morphine, fentanyl, none of it helped. Detecting is good therapy when I can swing it, pun intended ;) I have cut the morphine down to almost nothing because it doesn't help the main sources of pain, and slightly helps on the edges of all the muscle spasms. If you ever want to surprise a Doctor who specializes in chronic pain, tell him you want to cut down on the pain meds. I am on a third of the morphine I was on and half the lortab. I have about given up hope of ever working a normal job again, and I am 38 yrs old. One of these days I will type up my whole story and post it on tnet, I have battled chronic pain since I was 10 and have gotten worse every year since. Life is good though, and tnet is an awesome forum to get my mind of things and enjoy the company of other crazy TH'ers. Thanks for the good wishes Gary...Ryan
