Had an hour to spare before all the company came storming in for the annual Labor day festivities, and hubby had made a slight remark yesterday about driving me over to a site that I have long wanted to hunt. Now, ya'll know that any hint of getting to go hunting, and I am on ready! ;D So I throw on my huntin britches and boots and hop in the old blazer...had to take the hoopty for this ride cause where we were going was purdy hard to get to....don't want to scratch up that nice purdy truck, ya know! ::) :-X Anyhow...figured that with only an hour to hunt this would be my recon day. This place was a resort in the late 1800's early 1900's and WOW what some places that these folks must have had. :o Only had time to visit one old homesite. This house had three HUGE fireplaces! The rock walls and steps are still pretty much in place but there is tin everywhere and looks like this was the local dump in the 50's. :'( I know that this place has been hunted hard over the years and from the looks of all the holes left...with trash still in them, I might add, I still want to hunt it! Just got this feeling that there is good stuff waiting there for me! ;D Might wait a little bit for all the foliage to die down. Didn't find the good stuff today, but in keeping with my finds from earlier this week I did find a great old button! Don't know what the top thing is, but it has some neat designs on it, and then I did find this nice old bullet! ;D

Here's the pics of the day.

Nana ;)

Great looking site, already it looks like you got some nice relics! That button looks pretty nice. 8) 8)

I love site photos like this.

Keep us posted. Those other detectorists (or should I say, jerks who didn't fill their holes) can't possibly have gotten everything.

Seems like a good start to me!

hi nana, like the button you found and good luck with the site congrats

Awesome site Nana, good luck when you have more time to indulge! I have heard they sometimes placed a coin around the fireplace mantel when building for good luck or something, might want to scan around the fireplace. Any outhouses or evidence of one? Would be cool to dig one out. HH and looking forward to a post of finds, Mike

Well now that's what I call a prospective site! I agree I'd really give that one a closer look.

I'm betting large cents and maybe even a colonial. Everything is masked by tin and iron. Yep, been to those types of sites many times. You don't find lots of stuff but you often make one find worth 500 of the other variety.

You are most fortunate to have such ruins within driving distance.

I know of such a site but because of this knee it won't be until next spring before I can hunt it.

I can't wait to see what you get out of those sites in that area.

No........the chimney in the back left is ;)

that place looks like a winner to me nana! theres just got to be something hiding in all of those tin scraps. you may have to dig a lot of junk to get to it though. do you have a small coil for your detector? sounds like one might come in handy for this spot. at any rate good luck with it. i hope you find lots of silver! ;)
