Here are a few of the rare specimens of Red Trinitite. These Red are pretty hot with CPM above 12k a few pieces 16k.
These are the results of the 1st Atomic weapons test July 16th, 1945 (Code name Trinity).
Always looking for someone who collects Trinitite and hear their story and post a few pics of their specimens.

Trinitite Red Atomic Bomb Glass

Just received another couple dozen Trinitite specimens. Some spectacular...1 example is melted to a rock base, another imbedded with unknown element and 100s of tiny metallic spheres...other photo's are Red Trinitite under UL spectrum UV light source.

Your Avatar says it's illegal to remove it from site, so are these all illegal specimens? And if it's so hot, why are you handling it? No fear of ingesting or breathing Alpha particles? The Trinity test was a pretty dirty bomb.

All my Trinitite specimens were collected prior to the bulldozing of the original Trinitite layer and site banning in 1952. It is legal to own, and sell and to purchase. It is illegal to remove from the Trinity Site today.
73 years since the test, yes...its Hot as far as Trinitite standards are concerned.
Handling it is perfectly fine...I avoid the breathing of dust by not creating it or ingesting any of the material...as far as Alpha and Beta particles, they are very short range in their ability to penetrate, your skin can block them...most of the Gamma rays were omitted within seconds and consumed by the initial Atomic blast. My fear would be if I decided to consume a large quantity of trinitite over a long period of time. It's a beautiful man-made element with an incredible history and story behind it's development.
